Sicilian wine is my "it" wine right now. I'm pushing it on everyone I know because what you get flavor-wise compared to the price is incredible, particularly bottles made with the Nero d'Avola grape. Flavors include black and blue fruit matched with a full body and solid tannins, similar to Cabernet Sauvignon. Some of these Sicilian bottles keep up with and even outperform Napa Valley cabs that can cost twice as much. If you want to load up on daily drinkers to get you through winter, put the wine retailers on notice and grab a mixed case of Sicilian wines. It's almost like we're stealing it...almost.
I love a good dress code. And the all-white Wimbledon look is *chef kiss*. It's got me feeling some sort of way and looking to add more white to my life. Please
Vintage Men’s Boasters White Tennis Shorts Second serves are unnecessary with this inseam.
NIKE KILLSHOT 2 LEATHER KILLSHOT 2 LEATHER JCREW Not a big Nike guy. But this J Crew collab got the juices flowing.
Sid Mashburn Levis 501 Best seller for a reason.
The Fliers Club Harry Cap by American Needle I have the Member version of this hat and it's been my go to since getting it in the mail. American Needle hat's just hit different. Super soft, super comfy.
I feel like I was made for this shirt. Only reason I'm apprehensive about getting it is because I know it would end up with guacamole or an aperol spritz all over it.
SchoonerBayCo Virginia Black and White Transferware Porcelain Tea Set with Tray Did this throw you off guard? It shouldn't. We're grown ups and should have nice things. Epic Virgina art work on this tea set. You can put coffee in it if you want, geesh.
Being part of the #pushcartmafia is a lot harder when you're lugging a tour bag. Need something smaller, simpler, sleeker, etc. Love the price point too....
Few other things encapsulate #summertimevibe more.
I'm always here for the old hotel ashtray. It's my North Star.
Every once in a while I stumble over a product, person, or something that just grabs my attention. I've saved up a handful of these things and now want to share them with you.
Poshmark- When I was putting the post together for where I buy my ties, I knew about Poshmark but didn't really ever give it a go. Ebay is fine. But bidding is lame and I'm always second guessing the quality of things. After a co-worker told me about his recent score on Poshmark I decided to dive in. I'm pretty happy with the results right now. I just scored a Brooks Brothers Prince of Wales tie for less than $10. And the shipping was free. I think there are deals to be found here...
Upland Gun Company - I've found myself turned off from most of what I read in Garden & Gun these days. But I recently found an exception in their latest summer issue. Meet Upland Gun Company. On their website you can customize your next hunting shotgun to make it truly one of a kind with up to 17 choices including finish, checkering, side plates, chokes, and obviously gauge. Their base gun starts at $1,999 and is made in Italy. *chef kiss*
Audio Book: "The Wealthy Gardener" - The best thing I've heard about building wealth is that one should do it as fast as possible so we can get to the more important things in life. I love that. "The Wealthy Gardner: Lessons on Prosperity" by John Soforic is an engaging listen as it goes between the author sharing his real life path to wealth and a fictitious story of a you guessed it, wealthy gardener, mentoring a young man who has aims to build wealth for himself. Key takeaways from the book for me include (I can expand on these if enough interest is shown):
- Change what you're doing or keep what you got.
- Give a sacred effort.
- Set income/savings/investment goals.
- Trust your gut.
- Track your net worth.
It's available on audible.
Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee - From June 2nd to the 5th, the United Kingdom will celebrate Queen Elizabeth's II 70 years of service as Queen. The best way to watch the festivities if you aren't there is via @jemappellejeff on Instagram. He's a U.S. guy who breathes everything U.K. He's getting digs on Savile Row, cutting it up at the East India Club, and is sharing it all on his Instagram story.
It's a little out of left field for me to suddenly catch an Anglophile streak. It's weird, I know. I have no ties to England. But I'm a sucker for tradition and history. Two things the U.K. has in spades. I'm chipping away at the final volume of the Winston Churchill trilogy, "The Last Lion." My Pinterest page is filling up with pictures of Prince Charles in double breasted suits. And a signet ring from Rebus is looking like a great way to celebrate my 30th birthday. Who am I?
Word on Fire Institute - The best part of running a blog with zero aspirations as using it as an income machine is that I can share everything I would like to share. This leads me to the Word on Fire Institute. If you missed out on a religious education like me and crave to know more about Catholicism in general, the saints, the Holy Trilogy, the Rosary, etc. Bishop Robert Barron has put together this wonderful program. I would place him in the upper echelons of the Christian Intelligentsia. You may recognize him from his sermons on Youtube. He's done interviews with Jordan Peterson and doesn't stray away from the most common complaints or turn offs that people not associated with the church may have: the abuse scandals, the role of science in society, heaven and hell, etc.
The content is truly educational and captivating. It reminds me of when I would watch the History channel with my Dad growing up. I can scroll through the app via my Roku T.V. and pick a six part lecture series on Dante's Inferno, a one hour biography on the Christian writer G.K. Chesterton, or a breakdown of what the Apostles Creed really means line by line. It's helping me stop going through the motions at church and start to grow in my faith.
